scholarships for higher education
In February of 2020, we started offering scholarships for girls in developing countries to pursue their higher education and be able to go to college or enroll in a +6 month-long program to advance their education and careers.
We are proud to be working with trusted local organizations that are already supporting girls’ higher education in their communities. We partnered with the Bliss Scholarship Program in the Philippines, and with The Mariposa Foundation in the Dominican Republic.
mini documentary series
As part of She is the Universe we created a youtube mini-documentary series of 111 episodes of 3-minute episodes each. Every episode focused on one teenage girl from across the globe. We are capturing the diverse stories of these young women of all shapes, sizes, colors, languages and cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, to amplify their voices and help them claim their power and achieve their future goals. Their stories and perspectives will change how we see them, how they see themselves and ignite girls’ fire worldwide.
Podcast
What does it take to bring a dream to life when you are a girl? She is the Universe, the Podcast brings you stories of young women, 10 to 25 years old, from all around the world. They have big dreams and they are taking action. They are making things happen in their terms! Either they are starting a business, writing books, creating a movement or saving the oceans, these girls will share with the listeners what they are up to, how they got there, they will talk about their view on the future, and so much more! These intimate, casual conversations between Laura Peña, the founder of She is the Universe and a girl will leave you inspired.

Events: Film screenings + Q&A
We have been hosting film screenings for our mini-documentary series She is the Universe, stories of girls told by girls all across the world where, from the Amazon jungle to Copenhagen, from Thailand to the US, from Australia to the Dominican Republic. We have been coming together to watch the films, to connect, to share behind the scenes from this movement, and to have deep conversations about what it means to be a girl today, about their future, and how we can all support them to achieve their dreams. These events organized in partnership with local organizations supporting girls and women.

We have run workshops in the North America, South America, Asia, Europe and Australia.
Workshops
When girls come together and feel seen, heard, and safe, amazing things happen. When they know that they are not alone, that we have their back, they shine.
We offer free and donation-based workshops around the world for girls and young women aged 8 to 23. These include empowering storytelling workshops, where we use filmmaking or animation as a vehicle for girls to express themselves and use their voice to get in touch with their innate power. We also host girls' circles where they connect with themselves and each other to build sisterhood, to talk about their passions, their struggles and to offer each other support.
These workshops are designed for girls to come together to celebrate each other's uniqueness, to share their dreams and to feel empowered. We believe we all have gifts inside of us waiting to discovered and shared, and we hold space for girls so they feel free to explore what their unique gifts are. Getting in touch with who they are and what they want (not what society expects of them), girls' inner fire gets ignited, their confidence grows and they start to believe they can do anything. Because they can!
